We have been working very hard this week learning to tell time to the hour and half hour.
The students are working really hard to fill up their Tiger Cards. If the student are following the Tiger Way, they are given an Awesome Tiger Sticker to put other Tiger Card. Once they fill up their card, they take it to the office to redeem a prize and get a new card to fill up! Thanks for working so hard to follow The Tiger Way!
We learned about the sound oi today! We learned about and used a coil to remind the students how to spell the sound oi. Some of the students earned the opportunity to stay in from recess to play with the coil. They had a lot of fun!
We had our BLING! Assembly for 3rd Quarter today! Congratulations to all of the students that earned a pin for an accomplishment during 3rd Quarter! The students below earned the Academic Excellence Pin. They earned all 5's and two 4's on their 3rd Quarter report card! Congratulations! The students below earned the Silver Star Pin. They scored 75% or higher on our Granite Semester 1 Math Benchmark. Congratulations! The students below earned our First Grade Pin. They had to read 75 sight words in 3 minutes or less and pass off 4 Gumball Math Tests with 100% accuracy! Congratulations! I am so very proud of all of these students and their hard work! We have been learning about measuring. Today
we measured several objects with plastic tiles. The students had a lot of fun with this activity. They are becoming proficient at measuring with non-standard units. We earned enough Paws for Applause to spin the big wheel again! We earned a Rootbeer Float party! We watched an Easter movie as we enjoyed our floats! I'm so proud of these students! They work very hard to follow The Tiger Way! Keep up the great work!
We had a really fun St. Patrick's Day! Everyone remembered to wear green! We had a visit from Lenny the Leprechaun. He left all the students a special St. Patrick's Day pencil and a piece of gold on their desk! Lenny the Leprechaun pulled a prank on our class . . . He turned our milk green ! It was pretty exciting to drink green milk for breakfast! We sorted the charms we found in Lucky Charms cereal! Then we graphed the charms according to shape. It has been a really fun St. Patrick's Day!
We learned about the sound /oo/ today! We made GOO today in class to help us practice making the sound /oo/! It was a lot of fun! We made many different colors. Everyone got to take a little bag of GOO home with them today! Here is the recipe if you would like to make GOO at home:
We also practiced spelling words with the /oo/ sounds using Fruit Loops! It was a very fun day learning about the sound /oo/!
We had a fun night participating in lots of science, technology, engineering, art and math activities! It was fun to see so many friends
from our class at this activity! We started a new way to practice our sight words this week. We have been practicing our words every day along with some exercises. Here is the workout so students can practice at home! We will be passing off our 3rd quarter sight words the week of March 14th. Students need to be able to read 75 sight words in 3 minutes or less. |
